It's officially called a "special traffic safety campaign," but it's better known as a good, old-fashioned speed trap.
The Naperville Police Department will join forces with 11 other local law enforcement agencies along the Ogden Avenue corridor for a special traffic safety campaign on Tuesday, Aug. 14.
The campaign will run along Ogden Avenue through Kendall, Kane, DuPage and Cook Counties in an effort to increase motorist safety by using traffic enforcement and education, according to a news release from the Naperville Police Department.
Enforcement efforts will focus on speed, safety belt violations as well as traffic violations.
Each jurisdiction will implement their own enforcement action based upon the needs of their communities, according to the news release.
The following twelve police agencies are expected to participate in the traffic safety campaign: Naperville Police Department, Aurora Police Department, Oswego Police Department, Hinsdale Police Department, Yorkville Police Department, Downers Grove Police Department, Western Springs Police Department, Berwyn Police Department, Lisle Police Department, DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, and Illinois State Police District 2.
