A teenage girl was able to get away unharmed Tuesday after a man approached her while driving an SUV near Barkdoll and Royce roads, the Naperville Police Department said late Friday.
The Naperville Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance to identify the man spotted in the vehicle at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The teen told police she was walking south on Barkdoll Road near Royce Road when a man in his 30s drove up in an older model, black SUV, police said. The man, who was the only occupant in the vehicle, had a medium build and thin, light brown hair. Police said he rolled down the passenger side window and started to ask the teen questions.
“When the subject asked the victim what school she attended and how old she was the victim replied, ‘why?’” a news release from the Naperville Police Department said. “The subject was said to have responded, ‘Because I think you are cute.’ The victim then ran from the area.”
The Naperville Police Department wants to identify the man and is asking the public to contact Naperville Police Investigator Gibler at 630-305-5453 or Naperville Crime Stoppers at 630-420-6006.
