Welligee Personal Training & Lifestyle
Owners: Ryne Gioviano, 26, and Jon Janeway, 31
Location: 424 Fort Hill Drive, Suite 123; near the Crate and Barrel warehouse
Type of business: Personal training
Open: The business has been open about two months.
Why did Gioviano and Janeway decide to start their own business: “We saw a need for a more ‘catering to a client’ approach,” said Janeway. A gym may not be the most comfortable environment for personal training, they said, and some clients, particularly women, might feel uncomfortable. Both Janeway and Gioviano have worked in personal training at health clubs and personal training businesses, and thought it was time to open their own business.
About the business: Welligee offers clients four self-contained personal training rooms so that personal training sessions can be held in a closed-door private setting. The business also offers clients the option to have their own choice of music piped in to the room during training. The facility also offers a large training area that may be used for group training or exercises requiring more space.
Clientele: Welligee has a wide range of clients; some might be new to fitness, while others could be training for a marathon or a triathlon. The business is geared to those who may prefer to train in a private setting, whether that is because the client is new to exercise and would not feel comfortable in a gym or because the client seeks privacy. “It is good for that person who thinks they could never go to a gym,” Gioviano said.
Services: The business offers personal training matched to the needs of the client and their goals, whether that is weight loss or training for an event. The training provided is structured to meet the client’s goals. The owners have worked with young athletes to those in their 80s.
Education: Both Gioviano and Janeway studied at Northern Illinois University. Both have bachelor’s degrees in exercise science. Gioviano also has a master’s degree in education and exercise physiology. Both Giaviano and Janeway are certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Fees, hours and other information: Clients may choose to purchase 30- or 50-minute sessions, and packages are available. There are no enrollment or membership fees. Training sessions are by appointment only and can be set up by phone or email.
Upcoming events: In March, Welligee will be offering a 30-day program that will incorporate fitness training with a nutritional program designed by a dietician. The program will offer a high-end scientific approach.
