Welcome back to another installment of Kevin Sings the News—the 30th, in fact. Every Friday, for more than six months, Patch troubadour Kevin Trudo has written and sung an original song for us based on the previous seven days of Patch headlines.

This week, it’s a fun ditty called “Brides,” because… well, you’ll see. The song blends together stories about a Tilted Kilt opening in Bolingbrook, a Romeoville student suing his former school district for stalking him, a proposed tax hike in Channahon, a Bonnie-and-Clyde-related mystery in Plattville, and a Woodridge school principal who shaved his head when his students met their reading goal.

But wait, there’s more! We also have the story of Mark Buehrle’s exit from the White Sox (and Lemont), a Plainfield man accused of beating his mother with a bat, a banquet hall in Lemont that closed and left clients in the lurch, Colin Farrell visiting Darien to talk about Angelman syndrome and his son, new apartments being built on an old school site in Plainfield, and Montgomery’s longest-serving plan commissioner retiring from the board.

The lyrics for “Brides” have been reprinted below for your convenience. For more on Kevin Trudo, check out his Facebook page, and come back here next Friday for song number 31!

Brides

Did you see the picture from the Tilted Kilt article?
That's an awful lot of skin
Did you see the one where the guy is suing Valley View?
Says that they were stalking him
Will taxes go up in Channahon?

There's a little mystery in the history of the armory
Bonnie and Clyde may have had a part
And the Sipley principal’s a little less pileous
He lost his hair but showed his heart
Mark Buehrle's going to Florida

You could read the comments on the kid who beat his mother up,
It's an informal ethics class
Then they closed the banquet hall and left those brides in the lurch
I wouldn't mess with brides
Look, I know that doesn't rhyme, but I wouldn't mess with brides

Oswego Patch is one year old

Colin Farrell came to town to share a bit about his son

Where they took the old school down in Plainfield
Their gonna put apartments up
Clarence Bark hangs up his hat out in Montgomery
Maybe he knows
You should never mess with a bride
