Petitions for candidacy for the 2013 Naperville municipal election will be available in the city clerk’s office at the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St., starting today.
To qualify as a candidate, you must be a registered voter of the city of Naperville and have resided within the corporate limits of the city for at least one year. Up for election in 2013 are four two-year, full-term City Council positions. Two-year full-term positions are required in the 2013 municipal election due to the implementation of the district election system in 2015.
Petitions for nomination are filed with the city clerk’s office. The filing period will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, through Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, excluding weekend days.
A Consolidated Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, if more than four candidates file for any one office or if there are more than 16 candidates total. The Consolidated Election will take place on Tue., April 9, 2013.
