This weekend some of the area's fittest competitors will be sweating it out in an effort to help end hunger.
On Sunday, Aug. 12, Acceleration in Naperville hosts the Anti-Hunger Games Charity Event where contestants compete in prowler pushing, rope pulling, tire flipping, sledge hammering and an agility course.
Proceeds from the event go to Naperville's Loaves & Fishes Community Pantry. The public is welcome to attend the free family-friendly event, which will be held this Sunday inside the Player's Indoor Sportsplex, 1740 W. Quincy Ave., from 2 to 6 p.m.
Complimentary catered food, music, games, as well as raffles with more than $3,000 worth of gifts and prizes will be available. Local business and event sponsors Lululemon, Blackfinn American Saloon, Lifetime Fitness, Xsport Fitness and Crossfit Naperville will also be in attendance.
Acceleration is a local sports performance and training facility, which offers various types of programs for football, soccer, hockey, tennis and other sports.
