More road construction is going to kick off on Monday. The city of Naperville is alerting drivers to upcoming roadwork on Book Road.
The three-mile stretch of Book Road from 87th Street to 111th Street will be resurfaced, according to the city of Naperville. The work is expected to be completed in mid-August.
The resurfacing work will reduce traffic to one lane with flaggers directing drivers for the duration of the project, the city said in a news release. Drivers should consider taking another route to avoid the construction.
A message board was already in place near the intersection of Book Road and 95th Street alerting drivers of the upcoming roadwork. Message boards will be used throughout the project to share information on the project, according to the city.
Motorists can also find information on the city’s “Construction Alerts” section of the city’s website.
A Federal Surface Transportation Program grant will fund 50 percent of the estimated total $1.1 million project cost, according to the city.
Along with the resurfacing on Book Road, resurfacing is also taking place this summer as part of the city’s annual Roadway Resurfacing Program, which includes resurfacing and reconstruction of roads in several subdivisions and a few of the city’s major roadways. This year’s program includes work in the following subdivisions: Breckenridge, Brookdale, Brush Hill, Cress Creek, In-Town East, In-Town West, Knoch Knolls, Old Farm, Old Saw Mill, Rose Hill, White Eagle and Wildflower.
All of the roadwork is expected to be completed by late October.
