Few students have shown the level of dedication that Jordyne Pippenger has in her time volunteering at Kidz Kabaret.
Jordyne was forced to deal with many challenges in her life, but she chose to rise above her struggles and inspire others. The sixth grader didn’t let the difficult situations she was dealing with get her down, according to Kandiss Hernandez, executive director of Fair Lady Productions.
Hernandez nominated Jordyne to receive a Youth Service Award. Fair Lady Productions and its flagship program Kidz Kabaret offer children opportunities to become involved in the theater though its non-audition program, which put the spotlight on every child that participates.
Every year, KidsMatter together with Mayor Pradel and the Naperville City Council, give out the Naperville Youth Service Awards to deserving teen volunteers during a special ceremony.
Jordyne came to Kidz Kabaret seeking a place to belong and in doing so she found a home. She volunteered 20-30 hours a week, teaching other students, assisting Hernandez in just about everything and supporting all other adult volunteer staff.
She is kind and gentle and works very hard. Jordyne is proof that no matter what happens, you have the power to change your destiny. She is an excellent student and has made Kidz Kaberet her home away from home. Kandiss Heranadez said she is proud to have Jordyne as a part of her family. Kidz Kabaret is blessed to have her as a friend.
