Rico can be a bit timid at first. Give him 30 seconds and he’s all lap dog.

Animals Deserving of Proper Treatment

Rico

Age: 3 years old

Breed: Chihuahua

Background: Brought to A.D.O.P.T. from DuPage Animal Control.  He has been at A.D.O.P.T. since February 10.

Personality: Like most Chihuahuas, Rico can be a bit timid at first.  Give him 30 seconds and he’s all lap dog.  He loves people and would do best in a home with children 12 years and older.  Rico gets along with other smaller dogs.  At the shelter, he seems to always buddy up with the female dogs.  Maybe there’s a little Rico Suave in him.

Adoption fee: $225

Louie

Age: 9 Years Old

Breed: Buff and white domestic short hair (Male)

Background: Transfer from Joliet Animal Control - has been at A.D.O.P.T. since February 2012.

Personality: You're as old as you feel and Louie feels GREAT!  Even though he is a plus-size Senior, he can provide you with lots of love and attention.  He gets along with just about everyone, not at all shy and could probably adjust to a quiet, well behaved dog.  He can be found in our Annex or roaming the hallways.  Louie is a two paw declaw.

Adoption Fee: $50

Other: All animals at A.D.O.P.T. are vet checked, spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and are up to date on age related vaccines.

Where to find these pets: For more information about any of the cats and dogs we have available for adoption, please contact A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter at 630-355-2299.   All animals are spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and are up to date on age related vaccines.  The shelter is a no-kill, nonprofit, animal shelter at 420 Industrial Drive, Naperville.  Visit us at www.adoptpetshelter.org.

Larry

Larry is a 12-year-old male domestic medium hair.  He was surrendered due to his owner being too ill to take care of him any longer.  He is a very mellow cat who loves his catnip and sitting on laps.  He can live with other cats and might be good with a low-energy dog.  He would be perfect for someone who has a quiet home and a big, sunny window for him to relax in front of.  He has many years of love left in him.  Stop by soon and give this great guy a new home to call his own.

Coconut

Coconut is a 4-year-old female Beagle.  She is a very sweet and likeable girl who is already crate trained   She is energetic and loves to go for walks, sitting by you for her daily petting, and playing with toys.  She is good with small kids, dogs and cats.  As she is a Beagle, living in a home that has shared walls would not be a good fit.  Beagles can be a bit chatty.  It would also be best if her new family was not gone all day.  She loves being around people and does not like too much alone time.  Coconut is waiting patiently for her new home.

More dogs and cats are available at the Naperville Area Humane Society.  All the animals have been examined for health and temperament, started on their vaccines and microchipped.  They are spayed or neutered at adoption.  Hours are 5 to 8 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays, 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.  Visit at 1620 W. Diehl Rd. in Naperville or online at www.napervilleareahumanesociety.org.
