Anyone living in the Chicago area knows there are really only two seasons here: winter and construction. Now that winter is over, construction is in full swing.

More construction is set to begin next week around Naperville, including road work and parking lot construction, according to the city of Naperville.

A portion of Diehl Road will be under construction beginning Monday and continuing through mid-May, according to a news release from the city of Naperville. The work will be along Diehl Road from Wall Street to Raymond Drive.

The city of Naperville received a grant to do the work through the Federal Surface Transportation Program, which will fund 70 percent of the cost, estimated at about $623,500, according to the city of Naperville.

Along with road construction, the city is also alerting drivers who normally park in the city’s Paw-Paw parking lot, located at Van Buren Avenue and Webster Street, that the lot will be undergoing construction and maintenance beginning Monday.

Construction at the parking lot includes building a new north-south pedestrian walkway connecting Van Buren and Jefferson avenues, lot resurfacing and striping, according to the city.

The city said that the work will be staged so that portions of the Paw-Paw lot remain open, but when the contractor is working on the north side of the lot, the Van Buren driveway will be closed and when the contractor is working on the south side of the lot, the Webster and Jefferson driveways will be closed.

Additionally, there may be the need for lane closures and there may be congestion due to the intermittent driveway closures during construction.
