Spring isn’t here yet and Mother Nature may be emphasizing that point as more snowy weather is heading to the Naperville area.
A winter weather advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
Rain is forecasted to begin Thursday, and a winter storm system will enter the area late Thursday night, bringing heavy wet snow with it, according to the National Weather Service. Snow is expected to be heavy at times with possible accumulations of more than an inch an hour. DuPage County Could be one of the counties hit hardest by the storm.
The Weather Service said that accumulations of four to seven inches are possible in some areas. Strong winds, slippery roads and poor visibility are all possible while the winter weather advisory is in effect. Drivers should be prepared for snow covered roads.
The Illinois Tollway is mobilizing its full fleet of 183 plows in response to the expected weather.
"The Illinois Tollway is ready to handle the snow expected to begin early this evening throughout our system," Illinois Tollway Executive Director Kristi Lafleur said in a news release. "It is possible that this storm could impact drivers this evening as well as tomorrow's morning rush hour, so we ask our customers to drive safely and allow enough time to arrive at their destinations."
