Funeral services will be held this week for Shaun Wild, the Spring Brook Elementary School teacher killed early Saturday morning in a bar fight at Frankie's Blue Room.
Wild's visitation will be held later this week in his hometown of Brown Deer, WI, and his funeral will be in Milwaukee.
Wild was killed early Saturday morning after police said Daniel J. Olaska stabbed him and two other people at a bar in downtown Naperville.
Visitation will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, with a memorial service at 7 p.m. Both the visitation and memorial will be held at Brown Deer High School, 8060 N. 60th St., Brown Deer, WI, according to a news release from North Central College.
A funeral service for close friends and family will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, 7152 N. 41st St., Milwaukee. Members of the public are also welcome to attend.
Faculty at Spring Brook Elementary School were prepared Monday to tell students that Wild died over the weekend, but would not be sharing details of his death with students, according to a message the school’s Principal Dave Worst sent to parents on Sunday. The school’s staff met Sunday to determine how to proceed. Parents with children in Wild's class were allowed to attend the start of classes Monday.
Discussions are underway for a possible local memorial service to be held in Naperville at some time in the future, according to North Central College.
“The Wild family wishes to express its thanks for prayers of support,” the release said. “Family members ask media to respect their desire for privacy at this time.”
