A Naperville man accused of downloading about 100 images of child pornography was charged over the weekend after officers discovered the images on his home and work computer hard drives, Naperville police said.
Gerhard Helmut Schiller, 47, of the 5900 block of Rosinweed Lane, was charged on an original warrant related to two counts of child pornography and two counts of aggravated child pornography, according to the Naperville Police Department.
Earlier this month, an investigator on the Naperville Police Department's Internet Crimes Taskforce was monitoring Internet activity and saw that child pornography was being downloaded from an address in Naperville. The investigation led the Naperville Police Department to Schiller, Naperville Police Sgt. Gregg Bell said.
Search warrants were executed Jan. 5 and officers confiscated computers hard drives containing 100 downloaded images, Bell said.
Police said none of the images appeared to have any connection to Naperville. The department's investigation is ongoing, Bell said.
Schiller was arrested at 8:44 a.m. Friday at the Naperville Police Department. His bail was set at $300,000 and he posted 10 percent or $30,000 bond, Bell said.
