7-year-old Kyla Hartigan is an inspiration to not just her parents, but to the community.
The little girl, born pre-mature with cerebal palsy is confined to a wheelchair because she cannot walk.
"She is intellectually on track with her peers and is completely aware of her situation and what she is unable to do," wrote Kyla's parents. "Even so, she is always so positive and does not allow her limitations to get in the way of her happiness, which to me is what makes her so special and inspires me to be a better person."
Kyla has received assistance from the Oswego community when they helped build a ramp in her home so she could move around in her wheelchair. But she could use a little more help.
Kyla's family is taking part in the Life Moving Forward campaign that will outfit three Local Hero winners with the vehicle they need to get mobile.
"An accessible vehicle would be life-changing for this little girl who inspires so many others," said her parents on Kyla's Local Heroes page.
Kyla already has about 1,200 votes, but could sure use a lot more.
