Suominen was arrested Jan. 10, 2012 after driving his orange 2008 Dodge Charger off Ogden Avenue and into a billboard post and fence near the Grand Reserve apartment complex in the 500 block of Chamberlain Avenue, police said.
When emergency personnel arrived, they found the Dodge Charger in a yard off the roadway. Suominen, who was trapped inside the vehicle, had to be extricated and was taken to Edward Hospital, police said.
Suominen was the only person in his vehicle at the time of the accident, police said.
During the accident, the car's engine became dislodged and traveled into a nearby parking lot, along with a tire from Suominen's vehicle, which hit and damaged the passenger-side door of an unoccupied 2001 Audi parked in that lot, according to reports.
Suominen also must pay fines, fees and restitution as well as get counseling and a attend a victim impact panel, according to the Chicago Tribune.
