Naperville's Public Safety Answering Point received a 911 call from the injured construction worker around 8:03 a.m. and crews arrived to the scene at 8:08 a.m., according to the Naperville Fire Department.

The construction worker fell a short distance off a ladder while working on the upper level of Edward Hospital Wednesday morning, according to the fire department.

Crews found the injured worker on the top level of a construction project on the roof of the hospital's new addition, but a specialized rescue team was needed in order to reach the worker due to the height of the building, according to the fire department.

The response brought another 10 fire personnel and five emergency vehicles to the scene, according to the fire department.

Once the worker was reached, he was treated by crews, secured in a packaging device and brought to ground level using an on-site crane. He was then transported to be treated for his injuries, according to the fire department.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Naperville Police Department.

There were no reported injuries to firefighters.
