Cannabis Tales
- A male juvenile driver from Aurora was cited with no valid driver's license and possession of cannabis at 1:37 p.m. Dec. 14. An officer stopped the juvenile's vehicle at Lathem Street and Kirk Road. There were five other juveniles in the vehicle who were also charged with possession of cannabis. A full report of this incident is pending.
- During a traffic stop at 8:41 p.m. Nov. 30, an officer determined that the male passenger in the vehicle, from Montgomery, had a small amount of cannabis on him. The male cooperated with a search, which took place in a parking lot on the 1300 block of East Wilson Street. He admitted to possessing the cannabis, which was confiscated with no charges filed. The driver of the vehicle, from Batavia, was issued a warning for speeding.
Buddy W. Blazek, 20, of the 900 block of South Ardmore, Villa Park, was charged with possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana after his arrest near Roosevelt and Baker Hill around 1:25 a.m. Dec. 13, police said.
War on X-Mas Decorations, Part II
La Vie Encore, 211 S. 3rd St., reported a series of Christmas decoration thefts at 1:28 p.m. Dec. 12. The latest incident had occurred between 10 a.m. and noon that day, with theft of garland from the lower level south windows.
The business reported to police this was the fifth such theft since Nov. 25, but the business apparently shrugged off the earlier thefts and not reported them to police.
The tally has been adding up — La Vie Encore estimated the value of all the Christmas wreaths, pine cones, ribbons, and garland stolen in the five thefts at $250.
Someone took two Christmas figurines from the front yard of a home in the 800 block of Highland between 7 p.m. on Dec. 13 and 7 a.m. on Dec. 14.
Christmas decorations were taken from a front yard in 0-99 block of South Ewing Street, police said. The incident was reported sometime between Dec. 14 and 16.
